From our Visiting Artist Series to events outside the hospital, we show our children that they can be productive and valuable members of Chicago’s cultural community. Their art has been featured in public spaces and galleries throughout Chicago, in the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Reader, and Chicago Sun-Times, and on every major television network. In addition, our children partner with Chicago’s finest artists, writers, and musicians.
Our track record of success is illustrated through partnerships with three major medical institutions, several area colleges and universities, the Chicago Public School system, and a wide array of highly regarded museums and cultural institutions — all of which creates a hospital-based arts program unlike any other.
When your child is hospitalized, whether it’s for two days or two months, their normal routine is disrupted in virtually every way. One of the most important aspects of a child’s normal routine is attending school. Children who are required to miss extensive amounts of school due to hospitalization are at risk of falling dramatically behind their peers educationally.
Along with the arts education programs provided by Snow City Arts, hospitalized children have rights to basic educational programs during their stay at the hospital. This page serves as a resource to parents to ensure that their children are receiving the educational opportunities which they are entitled to. Remember, a parent is the child’s best advocate to education in the hospital.
