Facilitated by multidisciplinary Teaching Artists, the Snow City Arts Virtual Learning platform includes instructional videos intended to enhance each learner’s art-making abilities in creative writing, dance, media arts, music, poetry, and visual arts.
Each workshop is comprised of a video and accompanied by an instruction guide that outlines learning objectives, Illinois State Common Core and Arts Learning standards, as well as reference materials that center ALAANA artists, media, art histories, and geographies. Aligned with SCA best practices, each instruction guide includes several tools and techniques that educators, parents or caregivers may apply to provide differentiated instruction for learners with diverse cognitive and physical abilities. By integrating adaptive models, SCA’s virtual curriculum is inclusive for learners with sensory sensitivities, sensory impairments (vision, hearing, verbal communication), limited mobility, and behavioral and psychological barriers. SCA Virtual Learning videos will include closed-captioning in English, and we are working to generate Spanish translations of both closed-captioning and instructional guides in April as well.
SCA’s online curriculum is well suited for young learners, K-12 students, young adults, and the young at heart. Refer to these shapes when determining a workshop’s level of learning.
