Snow City Arts programs have moved online! Access your favorite teaching artist’s workshop, find instructional art making videos for all ages, and enjoy being creative and learning!

Facilitated by multidisciplinary Teaching Artists, the Snow City Arts Virtual Learning platform includes instructional videos intended to enhance each learner’s art-making abilities in creative writing, dance, media arts, music, poetry, and visual arts.

Each workshop is comprised of a video and accompanied by an instruction guide that outlines learning objectives, Illinois State Common Core and Arts Learning standards, as well as reference materials that center ALAANA artists, media, art histories, and geographies. Aligned with SCA best practices, each instruction guide includes several tools and techniques that educators, parents or caregivers may apply to provide differentiated instruction for learners with diverse cognitive and physical abilities. By integrating adaptive models, SCA’s virtual curriculum is inclusive for learners with sensory sensitivities, sensory impairments (vision, hearing, verbal communication), limited mobility, and behavioral and psychological barriers. SCA Virtual Learning videos will include closed-captioning in English, and we are working to generate Spanish translations of both closed-captioning and instructional guides in April as well.

SCA’s online curriculum is well suited for young learners, K-12 students, young adults, and the young at heart. Refer to these shapes when determining a workshop’s level of learning.

Snow City Arts invites to you explore and experience our virtual world full of learning, creativity, choice and discovery.

We are showing our appreciation for essential workers by creating painting based thank you cards and posters to share in our windows and on social media. Follow along with one of our visual arts teaching artists, Allie Spicer, to learn how.

Our teaching artists are available for one-on-one interactive remote instruction. Let us know if you are interested! Email our Program Director, Veronica Stein, at veronica@snowcityarts.org.
